Baghdad's translation movement

Overview

From the eighth to tenth centuries, scholars under the Abbasids translated Greek, Syriac and other texts into Arabic. The year 830 is an approximate reference point for this wider movement.

Historical impact

The movement supported the transmission and development of mathematics, medicine, astronomy and philosophy.
